3-year-old boy dies after falling into Utah lake, being struck by propeller

A toddler in Utah is dead after falling from a boat and being struck by a propeller over the weekend, Utah State Parks officials said.
Walter Greer, a 3-year-old from Salt Lake City, was riding a boat with family members late Sunday afternoon when he fell from the vessel at Echo State Park.
The park is in northeastern Utah, north west of the city of Coalville.
After falling in, the child was struck by the propeller at the rear of the boat, park officials said in a press release.
The boat accident took place at the reservoir just before 4:45 p.m., according to the release.

Park law enforcement rangers responded to the area and recovered the child from the water.
The toddler wore a lifejacket when he was pulled from the water, officials said, but rangers pronounced the child dead on scene.

As of Tuesday the death remained under investigation, officials said.
"The Utah Division of State Parks extends our condolences to the family and to all those grieving at this difficult time," officials released in a statement.
